Wikipedia gets a new competitor as a free online encyclopedia, from which an unspecified number of voluntary, unpaid employees, maintained and enlarged.

The difference with Wikipedia is that Knol each article by a single author is drafted. Other users can then rate, comment on or suggest amendments. Specify multiple authors on a single topic to contribute, it will be useful to evaluate the item will be vital in what first appears.

The knowledge portal from Google was on 23 July 2008 in the beta phase.

Knol The name derives from the English word knowledge from. The idea of Knol, the Israeli scientist Udi Manber.
